Blackwork can be bold and graphic, delicate and detailed, ornamental or free-flowing. Strong work depends on balance between solid black, negative space and linework.
Solid black, negative space and flow
Negative space is part of the design, not what is left over. Where the skin stays untouched decides how the shape reads from a distance.
Large solid areas need a plan for healing. We spread heavy black across sessions where that gives a better result than pushing it in one sitting.
Ornamental and geometric work
Ornamental and geometric designs are drawn onto your anatomy, so symmetry follows the body rather than a flat grid.
We use stencils and fitting sessions to check the flow on the actual placement before any needle touches the skin.
