Flash tattoo FAQ

What is a flash tattoo?

A flash tattoo is an original, ready-to-go tattoo design created in advance by one of our artists. Every online flash design at Motorink Tattoo Studio Amsterdam is unique and will only be tattooed once.

Ready-to-go does not mean that the design is applied in exactly the same way to every body. During your consultation, the artist will check the placement in relation to your anatomy, body proportions and natural muscle movement. This is part of the Motorink standard and is included with every tattoo, whether you choose a flash design or request a custom piece.

Each flash tattoo is offered at the specified size and includes a fixed tattoo price. The product page also shows the artist and the reservation amount. If you request modifications to the original design, these will be discussed separately with the artist and may affect the final price.

Will anyone else have the same Motorink flash tattoo?

No. Every flash tattoo offered in the Motorink online collection is an original one-off design and can be claimed only once. As soon as the reservation has been completed successfully, the design becomes unavailable to other clients.

What does the reservation payment cover?

The reservation payment secures your chosen flash design and is deducted from the final tattoo price. The product page clearly shows the full tattoo price, the amount paid online and the remaining balance. You are reserving the design for a tattoo appointment at Motorink — you are not purchasing a digital file or the rights to the artwork.

Can the size, placement or details of a flash tattoo be adjusted?

Each flash tattoo is offered in the size stated on the product page. During your consultation, the artist will help determine the best placement and positioning for your anatomy, body proportions and natural muscle movement.

If you would like to change the size or modify elements of the original design, please discuss this with us before your appointment. Additional design work or significant changes may affect the final tattoo price.

How do I book my appointment after claiming a flash tattoo?

After completing the reservation payment, you can continue directly to the booking system and select an available date and time. Your Flash ID, artist and reservation details will be connected to your order, so you will not need to describe or select the design again.

Who will tattoo my flash design?

The artist shown on the product page created the design and will normally be the artist who tattoos it. This protects the artistic character of the original artwork and ensures that it is executed by the person who designed it. Any alternative arrangement must be discussed and confirmed with Motorink in advance.

Are flash tattoos cheaper or lower quality than custom tattoos?

No. The word ‘flash’ describes how the design was prepared, not the quality of the tattoo. A Motorink flash tattoo is created and tattooed according to the same professional standards of technique, hygiene, consultation and client care as a custom tattoo. Because the design is already prepared, its tattoo price can be displayed clearly before you reserve it.

Do I have to pay the full price at once? What about designs with multiple sessions?

No. Online you only pay the reservation amount, which is deducted from the tattoo price. The remaining balance is paid in the studio by card or cash.

Some larger flash designs, such as a backpiece, are tattooed over several sessions. The product page then shows the number of sessions and the price per session. You pay per session on the day itself, so you never have to pay the full amount upfront. You book the first session online; the following sessions are planned together with your artist, with enough healing time in between.

How long does a flash tattoo appointment take?

The duration depends on the size, placement, level of detail and how your skin responds during the session. Your artist will discuss the expected duration with you before tattooing. Larger or more detailed flash tattoos may require a longer appointment or more than one session.
