Tattoo Aftercare

Good to know

Good aftercare supports healing and the final result. Always follow the instructions your artist gives you about foil or second skin, keep the tattoo clean and contact us if you are unsure about the healing.

01

The first 48 hours

Leave the covering on for as long as your artist tells you. When you remove it, wash the tattoo gently with clean hands and lukewarm water, pat it dry with a clean towel and let it breathe.

Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare product. More is not better: a thick layer traps moisture and slows healing.

02

Week one and two

Flaking and light itching are normal. Do not scratch or pick; let the skin release on its own.

Avoid swimming pools, saunas, long baths and heavy sweating until the surface has closed.

03

Long term

Sun is the main cause of fading. Once healed, use a high-factor sunscreen on the tattoo whenever it is exposed.

Keep the skin hydrated. Well-moisturised skin keeps contrast and line definition looking sharper for longer.

04

When to contact us

Contact the studio if you see spreading redness, increasing pain after a few days, unusual swelling or any fluid that worries you. Contact a doctor if you have a fever.
